Classroom Facilitator
Position Requirements: Master Degree in Psychology/Social Work or other related field. Candidate must be licensed in the state of Pennsylvania (LPC or LSW), possibly credentialed through insurance providers. This candidate must have 3-5 years post-graduate clinical experience, working knowledge of mental health law, special education law and services available in the community. This candidate must possess excellent verbal skills and writing skills, excellent communication skills, the ability to engage larger groups of students for a sustained period (35-40 minutes), the ability to think quickly on his/her feet, be able to work as a member of a team and also be able to work effectively in an independent manner.
Job Responsibilities: The primary focus of this position will to provide to all classrooms,(K-12) student development in areas such as enhanced social skills, positive coping strategies, positive anger management skills, effective problem-solving skills, positive peer relationship skills, positive decision making skills, career exploration and planning, exploring ways to be involved in your community, both your school community and larger community in which the student lives and effective communication skills.
This professional will provide to all classrooms identified for this learning opportunity a 35-40 minute interactive presentation. The focus of the presentation will be determined by the classroom teacher, the building principal, the school counselor, the school nurse and /or the administrative staff.
The professional staff providing these classroom presentations will utilize curriculum-based materials to develop programming congruent to the needs of the students in the classroom. These presentations will be outlined in a lesson plan format, with brief documentation of the overview of the presentation and the response from the students.
This professional will be responsible for maintaining accurate documentation of the resources utilized the effectiveness of these resources, the response from teachers and students. This professional could also complete monthly ACCESS billing on eligible students.
It should be noted that the development of the role of this professional and specific job responsibilities will be a joint effort between the staff at the Upper Saint Clair School District and the staff at A + Consulting, INC.
