"My name is Katie Little, I’m currently a principal at an Elementary in Allegheny County. Ms. Jeannette Valentine worked with the emotional support staff as well as the regular education staff as a behavioral specialist contracted through A Plus Consulting. The service she provided our students and staff were invaluable in ensuring that our emotional support students received the additional behavioral supports they needed in order to be successful.
Ms. Valentine provided our students with several supports, such as: creating and implementing behavior plans, introducing developmentally appropriate and attainable incentives, facilitating small group activities centered to lessen a deficient social skill and conflict resolution amongst peers. These supports allowed our students to participate to a greater extent in the regular education classroom, thus increasing students’ academic achievement.
Ms. Valentine was an asset to the staff as well. She provided special education and regular education teachers with assistance in preparing functional behavior assessments, creating appropriate behavioral goals for students, offered strategies for dealing with challenging students’ and helping to implement behavior plans in the classroom.
